About

Garrett Stier is a musician, artist, and gardener based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After studying at Fuller Theological Seminary (‘14-‘17), he has spent the past decade utilizing various mediums of art as a way to strengthen community networks while deepening our human connection to the surrounding environment. From songwriting to collage work, most of Garrett’s creations are the result of attempts to process what is happening to the land that surrounds.

Resilient Artist Projects

Garden of Perennial Hope

Collage ties us together with the mending that is needed to maintain peace, making things that are fractured whole again. This medium allowed the space to combine segments of publications about the Los Angeles wildfires with images of wildflowers that are able to help heal the land of toxins and destruction through soil remediation. Collage also reminds us of the resilience it takes to be an artist, constantly reworking old materials or ideas in order to create something new. The hope is that this work in turn does the same for the viewer, inspiring a new way of looking at our surrounding environments and how we interact with them.
